You will complete Tier 1 and then complete the following: Write a 100 word essay describing Non-Mendelian genetics and examples of each of the three rule breakers. Once these are done show your teacher, you can come retake the Mastery Check within 10 school days of the original Mastery Check date.

Complete Tier 1 and 2 and then do the following: Create a slideshow of Sex-linkage, Codominance and Incomplete dominance complete with descriptions and examples of each and how to do them. This should be able to be shown to someone just learning about them and have them be proficient at the end.

MC 3 Tier 1: Starts 3/26 Watch the videos on my website and go through the diagram and worksheet on transcription and translation. Bring these things to be completed so that I can check them off.

Draw a table like the one below and fill in the blanks defining what is happening between transcription and translation from beginning to end. Be specific.
Once these are done show your teacher, you can come retake the Mastery Check within 10 school days of the original Mastery Check date.

RAFT writing assignment: I want you to write 100 words using the following concept below. You will be writing about the journey of Transcription and Translation from beginning to end. Be creative.
Role of the Writer: Who or what are you as the writer? An explorer? A strand of rRNA? A protein?
Audience: To whom are you writing? A friend? Your teacher? Readers of a newspaper?
Format: In what format are you writing? A letter? A poem? A speech?
Topic and strong verb: What are you writing about? Why? What's the subject or the point?

Mutations
If you wait longer than five school days to make-up this mastery check then these additional assignments will be used to make sure that you are ready for the quiz.
MC 4 Tier 1: 4/16
Using the worksheet handed to your before the Mastery Check on the different types of mutations and examples, watch the videos provided by Mrs. King to ensure that you understand the effect of the mutations depending on the kind as well as what can cause mutations. Please show Mrs. King the completed packet done correctly in order to take the Mastery Check.
MC4 Tier 2: 4/23 You will complete Tier 1 and then complete the following.
Choose one genetic disorder that is caused by a genetic mutation to research. Write a 2 page, double spaced paper about the disorder including what section of the DNA is altered, the symptoms, treatments and whether or not it can be avoided either for yourself or your future offspring. Turn this in with the Tier 1 work for this MC in order to retake the Mastery Check.
Once these are done show your teacher, you can come retake the Mastery Check within 10 school days of the original Mastery Check date.
MC 4 Tier 3: 4/30
Complete Tier 1 and 2 and then do the following:
Complete this worksheet. Once all three tiers are completed, you can turn them all in to retake the Mastery Check.
