Today we are taking the Cells test. Once you have finished the test, please do the following in order:
1. Begin on the Organ Article paper passed out to you today. You will be presenting this article in class so make sure it is something you have an interest in. Use your knowledge of finding good sources to locate something from a reputable source that passes the CRAAP test. 2. Check Skyward to see your grade in Biology. Take a moment to reflect on your successes and your failures so far this year. Failures are an important part of learning but only if you take the time to reflect and grow from them. 3. Fill out a SMART goal for next term with realistic expectations and steps to succeed. Be prepared to share this with your group next time. The more people you share it with, the more likely it is to happen. 4. Check out this superhero competition!

Today in class we are going to review the HeLa discussion from last time. You can watch the videos from the previous post or look at the notes for that information. We will then work on a review for the test that will be given next time. This test will be covering transport types: active and passive as well as the organelles and their functions. Please take a look at this review and complete it using any resource you can for the test next time. Today we reviewed the Cell Theory paper and all the information there. We also went over these notes and made sure everyone had the same functions before working on an analogy of the school and how it relates to the functions of the cell. Quizlet review Today we discussed common issues with the Chemistry quiz and engaged in conversation to encourage critical thought processes and what makes it important. Students were to evaluate their own work on the quiz and what they could have done better. We then reviewed the Osmosis, Diffusion and Active transport material given last time. Next time we will begin with Cell Organelles so make sure the Cell Theory worksheet is complete and you are ready to discuss the parts of a cell and their function. Please look for the remediation tools and information here. Chemistry

There are tons of videos on how to do this if you look for them.
Osmosis word practice problems Osmosis practice sheet Cell Membrane Transport diagram Today we will quickly review Photosynthesis and Cellular Respiration. Expect a Mastery Check covering this on the 9th and 10th of this month. We will then move on to different ways the cell is able to transport the things it needs either in or out. Please review the notes we went over in class. You can also enjoy this wonderful song about Cell Transport. Today we are going to be taking a quiz on everything we have learned so far about Chemistry. Don't forget to check out this review if you haven't already. We will then finish our notes on Photosynthesis and Cellular Respiration before moving onto Homeostasis.
Autotroph/ Heterotroph Video Prokaryote/Eukaryote video Today we are having Mastery Check #2 which will cover Enzymes and the 8 Unique Properties of Water. Please review the material before class. You are welcome to check out this review for the material. Once this is done, we will go through and finish what we started last time on Photosynthesis. Here's a helpful diagram. Please make sure you have the white packet completed and that you have reviewed these notes if you were absent. We will have a quiz next class period that will cover everything from Chemistry to date. |
