Today in class students are showing their analogies that they made last time. These should be well drawn and detailed. Students will then be given a packet on specialized cells (Links to an external site.) to research for the remainder of the class period.

Today you will be finishing the Nearpod we went through last time. You should go to Nearpod.com and use the code KLYFD. By the end of it you should have made a list of all of the organelles in both a plant and animal cell. Here are the notes we used in class (Links to an external site.). You will then create a cell system analogy. Students will be creating their own analogy of a system that works like the cell. All things inside of this system will have to be described on how its function is like that of one of the organelles. Examples can be a school, bike, car, etc. This should be drawn well and colored with all parts clearly explained.
Students are taking a test today that will be covering CHNOPS, macromolecules, enzymes, hydrolysis, dehydration synthesis, photosynthesis and cellular respiration. To prepare for this, they were given two Mastery Checks to check their understanding and have an opportunity to relearn, two quiz style games, multiple screencast videos and a review guide. This test cannot be retaken so please take the time to study and do you best work.
Today in class we took a quiz on Photosynthesis and Cellular Respiration. Next time we will be taking a test on the entire unit. Here is a link to some videos to help you review. Students can also use the quizlet made for vocabulary of CHNOPS, Macromolecules, Enzymes, Hydrolysis and Dehydration Synthesis. Here is a link to a Kahoot to play on Photosynthesis and Cellular Respiration. Students were also given a review guide which can be found on Canvas.
Today in class we reviewed Photosynthesis and then went over Cellular Respiration. We went over a diagram and did a Yeast Balloon lab.
Here is a link to a Kahoot to play. Today in class we went over a diagram explaining how Photosynthesis and Cellular Respiration. This shows how plants use Photosynthesis to turn solar energy into chemical energy (glucose) and then the process of Cellular Respiration takes the glucose and converts it into mechanical energy which is ATP. We then did the Photosynthesis Virtual Lab found in Canvas. Make sure to complete these in order to move onto the lab next time on Cellular Respiration.
Today in class we will be taking the Mastery Check on Enzymes, Macromolecules and CHNOPS. Here is a link to some videosto help you review. Students can also use the quizlet made for vocabularyof this section. Once we have completed the Mastery Check, please evaluate your grade, citizenship and review the survey you took on how well you prepared for this Mastery Check. We will then be moving onto Photosynthesis and Cellular Respiration.
Today in class we reviewed the Enzyme lab that was completed last time. Students were to graph and answer the questions in the lab to review how pH, temperature and concentration effected the reaction rate of the enzymes. We then went over the notes on Hydrolysis and Dehydration Synthesis. Students should be preparing for a Mastery Check next time on these things as well as CHNOPS and macromolecules. To do so, please review the material in Canvas including the Quizlet covering vocabulary and then go onto the Chemistry Survey to evaluate your confidence in taking the Mastery Check.
Today in class we will be doing a lab called Toothpickase where we will see how temperature, pH and concentration effect the reactive rate of enzymes. Once we complete this review of Enzymes we will learn about Dehydration Synthesis and Hydrolysis by going over these notes.
Today in class we reviewed the material learned about Enzymes and went into more detail. We then discussed how enzymes are affected by temperature, pH and concentration by looking at graphs and interpreting the information they represented. Make sure you look through the notes on Canvas that cover Enzymes.
