Today in class, we went over Mitosis, learned a Mitosis Dance and took a Mastery Check. We then looked in the microscopes at Onion Roots. Next time we are going to make a Stop Motion video to help us understand Meiosis. Please be aware that students will need to bring their own supplies to make the video including a camera, stand and all the cell materials which can be brought in the form of candies, food, play do, string, ect. There are hundreds of examples on YouTube of how to make a stop motion video and what a Meiosis Stop Motion video might look like.
Today is the first day of the new unit- Genetics! Work on defining the vocabulary words and the latin roots. Once that is done, you will move onto the webquest.
Today in class, students worked on a 3X5 flash card that they can use on the test Monday. This test covers all 11-body systems. Please have your student work on this and be sure to bring it with them Monday. The test will go on third terms grade. I also passed out a permission slip for the Organ Donor presentation we will be having on Wednesday of next week. Please select whether or not you give your student permission to attend. There will be an alternate assignment for those who select not to attend or do not return the permission slip.
Welcome back from Christmas break. Today I reminded students that I will be longer be accepting retakes for term 2. The only thing that will be added to this grade are unused hall passes. We then went to the library to complete this Station Activity. Next time, I have asked students to bring one 3x5 card to help with the project we will be working on.
