Today in Biology, students turned in their signed Disclosure document. We then took a pretest for the upcoming Ecology unit. This is graded purely on participation and not in their knowledge of the content. We then wrote a SMART goal for the entire school year. Students made sure their notebooks were organized before creating the 2nd tab, Scientific Method/Graphing.
We began this unit by going over the steps of the Scientific Method. The first step is to make an observation. There are two different types of observations: qualitative and quantitative. Students were asked to compare and contrast them using a Venn diagram. Qualitative is more of an opinion of the quality of something while quantitative is a fact giving a precise number. We were able to go outside and made observations about our surroundings.
